I create electronic music with analog machines. Or with virtual versions of analog modules. And sometimes even with classical DAWs. Without writing any notes. Because I can´t. And won´t. But I help algorithms to do the dirty work and steer them in the right direction. Sometimes I even succeed – or at least it feels this way for certain moments.
In this rare moments I hit the record button and share my works on this site. Not because anything is aimed to be perfect or even finished, far from that. Mostly to free my mind. Only things that get published can be considered as somehow done. Be it for better or worse. Thoow stands for “The Hedonism of Oliver Wagner”. That´s what it is about.
My work is split up between three different approaches and two virtual albums right now. Indefinite will become a compilation of ambient pieces, created with different systems and technologies, inside and outside the box, low on BPM and full of generative melodies. Molecules stands for my musings with the ever growing analog rack, VCV Rack, different modules and approaches, lots of failures, defeats, learnings and everything in between. The goal is to create two completely different virtual albums. And learn a lot on this way ! And finally release a new, third album on proper vinyl and on all the relevant streaming sites.
Working with a growing analog Eurorack, different modules and some of its digital counterparts. Most tracks are DAW- and computer-less ambient and technoesque compositions.
Tunes low on BPM and full of generative melodies, created mostly inside the box using classical DAWs or virtualized modular systems like VCV Rack.
